Toned abs and a flat stomach cannot be for everyone. If you are working out, dieting and exercising and still have a pot-belly or love handles, then you need another way. If fat on your stomach won't go away, Plastic Surgery Division of Columbia University Medical Center of Manhattan offers a cosmetic solution to all of their patients. A tummy tuck can drastically reduce the size of your stomach. If you don't believe that, you can see the tummy tuck "before and after" pics on their website.
The procedure itself involves a general anesthetic. Once under, a surgeon will create an incision in your lower abdomen. A similar process such as liposuction will remove excess fat in your stomach. Once the fat is removed, the skin is then stretched back to its original position and reattached. The actual procedure takes anywhere from 2-4 hours, but there is a significant recovery time of 48 to 72 hours in which you must stay in the hospital. Patients must also return after one week to the hospital or doctor's office to have stitches removed. The operation itself is not painful, however bruising and soreness is common. The procedure also may produce some scarring, which will fade with time. Generally the scars are hidden below your waist line so they are not visible even if you take a trip to the beach.
The medical professionals at Plastic Surgery Division of Columbia University Medical Center are honest and caring. Doctors and skin care professionals work together to give you the amazing results you deserve. They like to know that all of their patients are well educated on the details of each procedure. That way, patients will be most pleased with the results.
